I live in holland and fished here for a year and never been robbed and where i live there are at least 50 ponds in a 10 mile radius all with carp in some going upto 30lbs. And another bonus where i live is all you need is your yearly fishing permit no day ticket only one pond charges. Also for carp in holland you can fish all year round and night fish.

In answer to the thread, a couple of rule you must know, most water can be fished on the yearly permit, but my best advise is ask to fish one of the local club waters around the area that you intend to fish. Or their are a few commercial ventures popping up. Contact the local tackle shop, they are normally very freindly and most speak very good english. I was their last week on business and travel every couple of weeks over their.
Simple rules are no bivvies with sewn in ground sheets, this is classed as camping and not alloud, no fishing for catfish they are protected in Holland so a def no no.
To say the fish are smaller, this is deffinately not true I witness two fish last week banked one of 29.2 kilos and the other of 31 kilos both commons and banked at mid day. This way a small gravel pit just outside rotterdam. Further up the road was a what I would describe as a beck about 5 myrs wide and interlocked with several other becks the sight was unbalievable about 50 - 60 fish all holding round a feed pipe from the feilds. 30 - 40 grasses about four to four and a half feet long 30lb+, massive, and some realy big mirrors def over the 50lb mark, one was that fat when it swam it wobbled from side to side.
Speaking to one of the shops in the town of deventure they have waters where fish over 60 are common, pictures everywhere to prove it. All the shops are the same.
With France now getting more and more costly I def think for a cheap carping holliday, Holland is a must check out location. I would be interested in starting hollidays their if anyone else is interested.

hi does any body know of any guided tours for carp fishing near amsterdam itself?
My best advise is to call into one of the tackle shops in Amsterdam, these are called henglesport shops. The other option would be to contact some of the larger tackle companies like albertros or ultima the6y may be able to put you in the right direction.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, all I will say is that the fishing is fantastic over their. _________________ A FEW WORDS TO THE WISE - YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING YOU ONLY THINK YOU DO!

Another quick point fish the drains, the grass cap are massive I've seen them come out at over 15 kg about 35+ in english money. Massive commons and mirrors too. ou just need a fishing liecence that you buy at the tackle shops to fish most waters. _________________ A FEW WORDS TO THE WISE - YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING YOU ONLY THINK YOU DO!
