Fox alarms include a host of features that make use in the field "a step above" the competition. However, every water and swim you encounter is likely to be different. For this reason being able to take control and customise the levels of certain settings can mean the difference between success and failure. The number of controls available on the Microns and the precision with which they can be set is yet another factor that sets Fox alarms apart from the competition.
Volume Control
All Fox alarms have High Output Weatherproof speakers which can emit sounds in excess of 100db. Being able to hear your alarms, and not disturb other anglers, is vitally important. All Fox Microns and Ultrons have this important feature.
Variable Tone Control
Being able to tune individual alarms to produce different pitched tones is an important facility for any angler who uses more than one rod. A slightly different sound for each alarm allows you to differentiate between each rod.
Variable Sensitivity Control
This function allows the sensitivity of the Micron to be adjusted to the level you want. In flat calm conditions or on hard fished waters, tune the Micron to a high level of sensitivity. In windy conditions, ‘tune out’ false bleeps.
Vibration/Roller wheel Sensing System
The vibration sensing setting is unique to the Micron RX. This fully adjustable facility means the alarm can detect vibrations and tiny movements of the line, a must on hard fished waters.
See-Saw Effect
Alarms with this feature ensure the line has moved the
specified distance in the same direction, before emitting a
signal. Any movement in the opposite direction will reset the distance counter to zero. This can reduce, or even eliminate, false triggering caused by wind and water movement.
Drop Back Differentiation
Fox alarms with this facility emit an audible and visual signal which indicates the direction a fish is moving - towards or away from you - and enables you to react accordingly.
The Micron RX is one of a number of Fox alarms that utilise ground breaking Digital technology; creating faster, more reliable data transfer. Anologue systems cannot offer features such as: Low battery Warning, Tone Replication and See Saw effect.
For those who haven't used one, a radio controlled remote may sound like an expensive luxury. However, ask anyone that has used one, and they will tell you they’re anything but. Radio controlled units originally found favour with anglers who fished big continental waters, and were often bivvied up a long distance from their rods. With the Fox remotes being such small compact units, more and more anglers have seen the benefit of having such a system and they are now commonplace.
Range Test Facility
Allows the user to establish the receiver's range
in an individual swim! Atmospheric conditions and the presence of large obstructions will affect the performance of systems but the range test facility identifies potential 'trouble' spots. When activated, the unit sends an intermittent signal while the angler walks to a particular area; as long as the test signal can be picked up, you are within range.
Tone Replication
Tone replication ensures that the sound emitted by the receiver is identical to that given out by the Micron head - ie. high, medium or low etc.
Out-Of-Range Warning
The receiver incorporates an out-of-range warning tone, which will sound when the receiver recognises a transmission from a bite alarm, but the transmission is "breaking up". Depending on the conditions of use, signals from the bite alarm may also not be received at all, at the extremes of range, which will result in missing or shortened "beeps". Determining the limits of range is most conveniently done with the bite alarm in range test mode. As the limit of range is reached, the test signal will begin to break up, with missing or shortened "beeps", interspersed with the distinctive "crash" tone, indicating out-of-range.
Low Battery Warning
Digital technology allows this to be a standard feature on all Fox receivers. The units emit an audible tone when battery power is low allowing the user to change the power source before the next trip.
