    Pike fishing

Got a couple of hours dead baiting this afternoon. Buzzing to get on the bank. Taking my 7 year old son, he's as excited as me! Hopefully a pic to follow!

    Difference between dwarf and scope

There seems to be a contractual rule with buying scope gear you must adhere to also. You must dress like Alan Blair 😂Cap on and air max on your feet. I see so many Alan Blair cardboard cut outs with their scopes these days lol

    Introduction, Newbie

This will be my third post, to introduce myself. Newbie to carp fishing, 40 years of Bass, and Catfishing. Live in the USA. Grew up on the river and I now live next to the river. My practice is to release to preserve the Fish. I have seen many freezers full of fish that were thrown out due to being in there over a year to fill it up again. This just doesn't make since, it's wrong and I catch alot of slack for speaking my mind. The big Blues I use to catch are far and few now. I'm so excited to see how the Carp over there are released to catch another day and preserved. I'm learning Carp fishing and enjoy it as much as my Catfishing, ok a little more. My Loving wife has been supportive and has allowed me to buy more gear, considering I just bought new rods and reels for Catfishing, but I had to buy her a new reel and rod to. Minelab.

I'm a newbie to carp fishing, I live in the USA on the Ohio River. I walk most of the time to my fishing spots. When I came across CARP.COM Searching for information on how to Carp fish, I was intrigued with all the information and experienced anglers. I made my first post a few months ago and was Shocked by the response I got. Fast to respond with top notch knowledge that was Spot On. I want to thank every one for sharing your divine Carp knowledge, gear, bait and how to on this Forum. I finally have a good set of rods and reels. To day being black Friday, I ordered two Chub Outkast Plus Stalking Carp Rods, 9ft. 2.50lb. Will pair them up with my new Sonik Tournos 6000 Reels. We use the word here, Skunked, when you don't catch any fish. It took a moment or two to understand Blanked. I was asked how my fishing went, and I responded, I got Blanked. Wow a Kodak moment, whats Blanked he asked. Happy New Year every one and have a Great day.

    Best spod and marker reels?

I haven't fished with a Daiwa reel for years, mostly product loyalty to Shimano reels, but as I said in my previous, the modern expensive range do not seem as well built. The Beastmasters I do use and abuse myself, however the new spod reels I haven't beasted as my Aerlex is still going strong. The only reason I would need to update is for a faster retrieve!

    Best spod and marker reels?

I know what you mean about looking after your gear, my Aerlex 8000 which I use on my spod rod is at least 14 years old. Been used and abused, but still going strong. I must admit many of the current Shimano reels, even the more expensive ones don't seem as robust as older reels. I use a Beastmaster 7000 on my marker rod, same as my fishing rod reels, which is actually in the 'budget' price range. I don't know if these are any use? https://www.fishingrepublic.co.uk/shimano-aerlex-spod-10000-xtb.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgLCnrpjt3gIV2eJ3Ch0WogkbEAQYASABEgJKNvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/shimano-beastmaster-xta-reel

    Difference between dwarf and scope

Yeah not looking for massive distance. Makes no sense buying 10 foot rods if I want distance haha. I'll be keeping my big rod for if I go back to big water( but I dont think I will)

    Difference between dwarf and scope

A ok maybe ill aviod dwarf then haha. Shame the scopes are so so much money but the tt ones do look good. And I havnt heard one bad thing about them and I get the same tc I'm used too Sonik have done the own which are same lenght as the scopes so should fit in the quiver the same with reel pouches and there only about 80 quid each. But there 40mm rings and seem rarer then rocking horse tied to find out about I'm planning doing dping a few nights on places i shouldnt (nothing illegal though haha) hence the packdown size being important. Want be as small as possible

    Southern venue

Not sure fella. Ask dave? You misunderstood me, the small lake holds less fish with the odd 30, the main lake including the nooks and crannies holds the bigger fish.
