    Rod advice required

Hi, many thanks for the reply. From what I can gather from the bailiff, other anglers & trips round the lake, thereโ€™s plenty of marginal/short distance fishing to be had. I may have a feel with the lead this weekend and gather some information on what depths/features I can find on the bottom and judge it from there. Iโ€™m confident the Dwarfs will do the job, but thereโ€™s roughly 10 swims Iโ€™ve seen that make me think 12ftโ€™s might be an option. Hoping to start fishing early March unless the weather picks up between, gives me a few weeks to think carefully about the approach/rod decision. Thank you Mick

    First trip of the year

just for the day. i have no interest in doing nights in the winter if im honest, not whole nights anyway. I will go fish till 10/11 on the river this time of year but i much prefer going back to a warm bed lol

    January catch reports

Worth getting just to annoy the wife. Iโ€™ll put my bivvy up in the lounge just for the full effect.

    Targeting bigger carp

Fish places with bigger fish in buddy. A long time ago I wasted 2 years chasing a single big fish in a water full of smaller ones. It's not worth it mate. If you want big fish, fish big fish waters.

    Carp care

I always recover them, I like them to kick off strongly having been rested and taken in some D.O. through the gills. It only takes 5 minutes. I feel much better seeing one kick off, than if it just sits in the edge. Seen one or two released too early, listing to one side, not good.... Better to rest them first imo..... Besides, it gives you an extra 5 mins to admire your catch in the water. Never a bad thing if catches are rare. No offence meant Dave, but , not recovering a fish is bad advice to anyone new to the sport. That's not an opinion, it's fact.

    Carp care

Dont play the CARP to to such an extent it comes into the net flat on its side , then after all the weighing and photographing magic buckets of water over it , it then needs 15 mins to recover because you have very nearly killed it in the first place. So Carp care to me and others is not just about when you have it out the water, it starts from the moment you hook it.
