Managed this lovely one on Monday night. 22lb and stunning scale patterns. Caught early at 6.30ish then just one pesky tench. Lovely fish and a great nights sleep. Success for a school night!

    How easy? What risk?

I've had things going through my head today, and I mentioned 'lifesaver' in my facebook capture post, but that doesn't really cover all. I had just netted a double figure carp for my mate. As he got up to come round for pictures, he slipped or fell like poleaxed straight into the lake. The lake owner and I jumped in to get him out as he surfaced. My mate is a man mountain, 22stone, so we dragged Dave to the bank. At some point he must have breathed in some water, so while trying to get him into recovery, still in the water up to our thighs, I had to give him cpr, which the position we were in, the only option was to thump him in the chest, once, as hard as I could. He then started fitting and snorting while breathing. Somehow while this was going on I managed call emergency services, who stayed on the line until help arrived. It took 5 of us to get Dave onto the bank. Thank you to the paramedics, especially Zoe, first there who jumped in herself to help, to the fire brigade, and the other two anglers. The last I saw of Dave was being taken away in an ambulance. Please get well soon Mate, I hope you recover fully. As an add, somewhere in that lot, I did also manage to tip the fish back alive, quite possibly as I was getting out of the water after getting Dave out. As an addition to this, please don't think I am angling for praise. I did what anyone else would have done. I didn't think, I did it, my Mate. The important parts of my post were how easy it is for an accident to happen, a slip or trip, and it could be curtains. The second part is Thank you to all of the emergency services personnel who helped when needed. I have no idea how long it took for them to arrive, but it was quick, at an out of the way address. Thank you to the ambulance operator on the end of the phone line, who could hear everything going on, and gave advice and help when needed.

Just got to the new lake im fishing. The lake is 6 acres and holds about 30 carp. Ive already seen the big common, hasnt been out in nearly 2 years. I saw him about 2 months ago when i was walking round and he had most of the stock with him. So im thinking im in the right place at the moment , im just having a ciggie and gonna take my time , sit back and watch for bit before i disturb the water.

Cheers mate .... your chuckle at this, I had a text off my mate at the other end of the lake , I can make him out just about from where I am . Any way .... he's only gone & caught the lake record at a new weight of 74 + . I'm like straight up ???? He's like yeah shaking mate absolutely buzzing . " Jesus mate I'm reeling in I'll be round asap " I could see he was being busy in his swim getting things sorted etc . My hearts pounding by this point . Anyway he's obviously watching me through the bins as as I go to reel in the phone goes... " April fools "

Off to France this coming weekend and did a bit of "just in case" shopping today. In my mind's eye I thought I was low on inline leads so I bought six. Oh, backleads, I thought. So I bought three. Then PVA came to mind so I bought loads of assorted bags and a bulk dispenser thingy. Got home and pulled the tackle holdall out. I now own twenty three inline leads, 14 assorted backleads and enough PVA products to enable me to wholesale the things...... Is this an age-onset thing or do others do the same? Ian.

Well I've been fishing a bit this past week with Big Dave and Andy. Dave is the guy I jumped in to save his life, and Andy is his driver. We all had plenty of fish this week, although Friday was slow for me. Bearing in mind Andy hasn't been fishing since he was a lot younger and never 'carp' fished, he had a few fish bream and carp topping it off with a pb carp of 5lb. Dave found that Method feeder at Bromeswell has really been the method, work a spot up. He had plenty topped off with a 9 1/2lb common from Willow lake. The fish pictured for both of them is not the biggest. I struggled on Friday, only a couple of fish, but the other 2 days I lost count, again double being the largest. All mine came on Juicy Pineapple pop-ups over Ballistic B boilies.

No pictures but I had my first carp since November today. In fact I had two during a few hours stalking with bread crust. Nothing beat watching a carp suck down a bit of crust in the middle of a reedbed. Two proper nice dark commons, both single figures have now been liberated from the small lake and in to the river to give them a chance of surging a bit longer from the otter.

What a load of twaddle! I bought a cheap light aluminium Β£50 pod years ago, that only got uprated within the last two years, but because I could. A goalpost pod I could fish as pod or banksticks, with goalpost or central sticks. At times I only used the front bars with buzzers on. If you buy right you do NOT need to spend shed loads on gear. In other posts you compare Terry Hearn, when you can catch as much and as well as he does, then I might take your posts seriously. Until then I'l just keep an eye on what you post for approval.

Did a 24hr on my lymm water first light Friday to Saturday. It’s a busy complex but always good for a bite or two. Managed to squeeze on and with a few lads pulling off at dinner I had my eye on a spot that would be free come dinner. The morning was pretty uneventful as the fish was down the bottom end so all eyes was on the lads packing up. 6 hrs without a sniff seen me into a fish 5mins after my move when this decided to snaffle my maggot hookbait An hour later this fell to the same tactics It all went quiet after that, very quiet and after a good nights kip woke up to the sound of a few fish crashing A slow pack up seen me Nick the best fish of the session just as the sun started to get high

Just landed another after wading 80 yards up the bank trying to get the right angle on it to no evail , so called the bailif & out we went in the boat . after some freeing of line from the lillies I was back in contact with it & we slipped the net user it . Smallest of the trip so far but well worth the effort . 32lb

Well after a 12 hour journey it's all worth while , currently chilling out with a gin & tonic . Managed to land a fifty earlier today, so a great start to the week 😁 . It's tricky, out in front of me is thick lillies but there not high enough to see yet so finding the channels in them takes a bit of time . Had the fish from a spot 100 yards out in a channel between lillie beds .

I’m sorry I’ve had to keep re quoting as for some reason it’s only letting me post 2 pics at a time πŸ€”πŸ€” I’m not very tech savvy so apologies πŸ™„πŸ™„ The water I was fishing is hammered by the pellet/boilie approach and I think doing something different with the maggots was the key to my success. All in all a good day,my only regret is I didn’t take more maggots and stay on for the night πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
