    Hi everyone!

Just a quick post to say Hi! New to this forum, but not to fishing. Fished a lot when younger then laid off it for many years. Returned a few years ago with a passion. I get on the bank as often as possible now (as work allows). Fishing various club waters in Suffolk and Essex. Biggest to date is a 22lb 9oz common, so now I'm after bigger fish! Anyway, good to be here. Look forward to reading the forums. Tight lines all.

  2. Just treated myself to the Sonik 9' 3lb xtractor set, with 2 rods, 2 x 5000FS reels and the 42" net. So I had to get a transporter to put it in too. The idea is to travel light and make fishing fun again. I'll never be 15 again, tying a rod to my bike with a shoelace, but maybe I'll be wallking and stalking a bit more with these?

  6. Hmm! As a member of the PAC, Pike Angler's Club, I don't think fishing for pike before September or even October is good for the fish. The water temperature is far too high and playing pike in these temperatures causes stress that can, and will kill them. I have seen it, even on rivers. The Broads system regularly loses fish killed by the holidaymakers 'dabbling with a spot of pike fishing in summer', which is why specialist tackle shops like Steve Burgess of Bass Online in Horning will not sell pike gear to holidaymakers between June and September, no matter what the cost. The exception is the deeper colder waters of Scottish Lochs and the English Lake District where bottom temperature stays around 4 or 5 degrees Celsius. Next problem is any baitrunner system has more resistance than an open bail arm; in carp fishing we use that resistance in our favour, however in pike fishing we want minimal resistance. Baitrunner systems (and playing fish off the clutch or drag) also create line twist, so you actually only ever should want to use it on a take.

  15. Just be careful as a heavier lead can drop right through any silt giving you a false belief that the spot is cleaner than it is. Imo a spod rod is perfect as a marker. You want it nice and stiff as it gives good feedback. Also means you can mark up at range.

  17. I went for the bundle in the end as I do use leaders and by the time I had added 1 mini box it seemed sensible to just spend an extra few quid and get the lot, it should fit nicely into the tackle bag I am using, so will have some space for the bigger bits, I can also fit a couple of the zig box reels in so can keep Chods and zigs just incase I need some

  18. Hi Elmo, I've got the Korda Tackle box, but I went for just tackle box (left), not Bundle (right). Only because, I don't use leaders or anything, just the tackle box was enough for me, but it's better to have to much than not enough. I've just been tinkering with my Tackle/Bait, tidied the tackle out, pimped some bait, there's a 50/50 chance for Saturday night, but I'm 100% on a 24hr Next Saturday.

  25. These arrived today, should make it even more interesting 😁, I knew pretty quickly which ones I liked to use from the last lot though and pretty much have one now that I am confident in as it's been the one that always seems to go, and I've had 4 bites on them, I also don't put that much faith in hookbaits alone they are just a part of the situation, if I have feeding fish and I am not getting a bite its the rig not the hookbait usually, but I do think having a stand out hookbait can get you a quicker bite I agree maybe it could be THE RIG but I messed about all last year with rigs and I ended up losing 7 fish to hookpulls and tied myself in knots, what I have learnt this year now I think was that I just needed to lengthen the rig a bit 😯 I just think if go in confident with your rig and bait then all you need to do is get the location right, which on a big reservoir must be the most important factor I would say πŸ‘
