    April Catch Reports

Got out for a bit last week and struggled for the most part with the carp showing way out of range but did manage this old original common to save a blank.

    May Catch Reports

A late start for me this year after the winter lockdown and starting a new job in March. Hard to believe it is May before I have had the chance to get the rods out! I had the lake to myself and so, I perched up in a corner swim with a South Westerly rippling in. It was mild and drizzly and looked ripe for a bite after a few shows in the area but alas, the weather changed during the night and the bobbins remained motionless. Brew in hand, I watched the water intently as the morning broke and there seemed to be some activity a little further up the lake. Half an hour of watching gave m

  16. Been after a quiver for my ESP Lo Pro and 9ft rods for ages. After much umming and ahhing, I plumped for the Thinking Anglers slim quiver. Should be delivered in time for my work overnighter on Monday so time will tell if I made the right decision.

Well the Chinese snugpac is very impressive just done a silly in the rain and swapped the zig over to a bottom Bait took longer than planned the snigpac gear is water proof too bone dry under just got to dry these out now or it will be the 1990s style rain suit proper heavy may as well strap the bivvy on. Lad two pegs over just had one.

    Food source basemix

Making a bait is about balance, ings are mainly broken down into non soluble, soluble and semi soluble. You can usually make a bait between 15-20% soluble, as the water works it way into the boilie all the good stuff from your liquids and soluble ings is push out into the water and that is what will trigger the carp to investigate, the rest come into play when the bait is eaten. The key is balance if you aim for around 35-40% protien content is a general mark most people work to.

    Korda krimp

Only use it on Korda Boom to create stiff loop sections for Spinner rigs and Loop to Loop combi rigs... Only use stiff boom on level underwater grounds.

    Korda krimp

It's a great tool when used with the right materials. Great for creating booms whether it be for Ronnie rig, Hinged Stiff Rig or Combi's. It's also good for creating short Chods if that's your kind of thing and allows you to consistently get the same length each time.

    The Actor Bait Boat

Tried it out earlier, it's a tidy little boat. So easy to use and control and glides across the lake and turns on a sixpence. Doubt if you'd got more than a kilo combined in both hoppers but that's plenty for me. Not sure what it would be like in very windy conditions as its so light.

    Carp to Coarse/Match

why not buy a cheap setup with a keepnet and see how you get on? I found unless I was catching decent fish instead of bream and silvers the size of my finger I got bored pretty quick๐Ÿ˜‚ I usually do a bit of everything, when I get bored of one type of fishing Iโ€™ll do something else until I get bored of that and move on again lol. I have so much gear in my shed I struggle to get in it, itโ€™s a nightmare trying to find stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  36. i will bite ... I donโ€™t think itโ€™s particularly bad or unsafe unless the plastic bait is banned then they can use it itโ€™s a lazy combi rig using stiff coated material because itโ€™s easier to strip the coating than tie an albrite knot lol personally I would have just used a quick change swivel rather than the quick link and a swivel

    Korda krimp

Iโ€™ve used the crimp system and on the correct hooklinks, it can form lovely neat loops, with the wrong hooklink it will come undone on the lightest of pressures. They are useful for spinner booms and making up combi rigs, but to be honest, Iโ€™ve just gone back to knotting it! Using the domhoff (donโ€™t know how you spell that!) for combi rigs and figure of 8 loops for spinner booms. I tend to favour a semi stiff material for the lake beds Iโ€™m fishing over at the moment so crimping isnโ€™t an option for me right now.

    Self Takes

Even if your camera can't take an intervalometer, you should be able to install 'Magic Lantern' on your Canon. I have been using this for a few years now and it is absolutely spot on. It is essentially 3rd party software that you install on your memory card and it opens up a load of extra features on your camera such as an intervalometer amongst other things. I generally use a 50mm equivalent lens (so 35mm on a crop sensor camera like yours) and use the aperture priority setting with an Av of around 5.6 and let the camera decide shutter speed for me. (this is obviously variable depending

Looks like fun need a tea boy or a chain lad once built three bridges on the M40 lol did the marking out for the diggers right up to marking out where the bearing plates would sit on top of the concrete that the steel crossbeams sit on., it was the only job they would give me due to age seventeen had to be eighteen to get a labours job. The guys with a good trade or their own 360 machine were making real big money being in the engineers team i got to work with most of the trades always a good bit of competition to see which trade was earning the most. That area and the whole of War

One of the reasons i no longer jump on Barston of all places for a runs water, had it with two grown men and their scabby dogs, i was fishing the bottom far corner casting down to the margins weekday afternoon not busy, two guys come down get the same idea and drop in the few pegs between me and the bottom corner, to cut a loud shouting match short they ended up at the other end of the lake and i was getting a beating at some point, i stayed for my three days as planned with no beating, but i'm not putting up with that so not really been back since.
