  1. Good evening all, hope all is well

Anyone have any experience fishing lonsdale park?

My brother and his friend has booked us a few nights on the 23rd of October

Has anyone fished there recently or within the past few years and can shed some light on the place please? Not expecting to be told how to fish it 😁 just what lies within its waters fish and feature wise

Some bad Reviews I'm praying they're not true. It's a three hour drive 🙄😅

    Kind regards

At least you two aren't fishing on my baited spots any more 😂

That reminds me must take my boiler suit to the dry cleaners, 👹👻

Seriously though I think I might done a Todd in my pants and packed up too, no need for that sort of behavior at night when you are fishing 👀

    😂😂😂😂

    See you next Thursday 🎣🎣

Seriously won't be going to that spot on my own again mukka.

Not right at all. It was a Feeling I haven't experienced before anyway

As the title says, what’s been your scariest moment carping?

Today, whilst fishing, I experienced someone hiding behind the trees and heavy breathing, this was at night time. I shone my head torch on for what ever it was to run off.

packed up most of my gear in two minutes flat and then I get a run on the rod that was out.

quickest landing, unhooking and pop back I’ve ever encountered. Plus sides, I’ve obviously still got it. I also didn’t blank...

    So what are your tales?

Aha don't suppose he was wearing a white boiler suite and a ski mask?? 😂

I went out river fishing for carp last Thursday evening to a spot I've seen and caught  a few carp from. Arrived at location around 6pm  raked my spot got gear in order ect and started fishing around 8.30pm

Around 10:15pm I hear almost  footsteps, more of a rustling sound

So I open bivvy door to see a white silhouette walk past around 20 yards away

I ask are you OK mate

He just ignores me and turns his headlight off

At this point I'm thinking what the (I know this naughty word is banned but I decided to use it any way because I can't control myself) is someone doing in out here and why is he ignoring me

So i decided to stay outside tent and make a tea, just to see if he/she walks back

By the time the kettle had boiled I could see this individual walking back down towards me with head torch on.. As he approached i  called you OK mate? He turns his light off and as he walks past I realise he's wearing a boiler suite fully done up with hood up and  all I could see was a black ski mask 🤪🤪😪🤢  as he goes past he just looks back

The chills it gave me pure fear 😂😂😂 and not embarrassed to say

And to top it off as I'm stuffing my gear into the van

My alarms start going mental... I'm thinking nooooo he's robbing my rods 😂 😂 lucky it wasnt the looney in the boiler suite

Have never packed up so quickly

Well I blanked my bottom off friday and saturday and whilst it was sheeting it down this morning, I had a screaming run which took me straight through a weedbed.... one cut off hookink later and I was holding a straight rod after seeing a huge orange tail move a ton of water in a huge swirl.... gutted... my only chance and i miffed it up... ho hum...

Couple of nice fish out though... a 28 to my buddy Neil which tied his B.James MkIV  into knots and left it permanently bent,  and and another chap had a 34 at midnight last night... couple more 20's out too.... sadly I blanked

    All fun and games mukka

    When you back next

Me too... this is my 2nd trip here... apparently its bone hard for the bigger fish so just any size carp will be an achievement for me... vintage gear will be used with the Sharpe's and my Merlin pins... lets hope I'm graced with a carp this time round

It's looking good for it mate 🎣

My fingers are crossed for you 🤞 looks a beautiful place

    Keep us posted 😁

I was on a lake in France bite time was 6pm-6 am then I would bring the rods in and bait up then a cup of proper coffee and set off with a light spinning rod. I was returning  a jack when Madam the owner of the complex came running out of the mist waving her arms cursing in French and could have been a bit of Italian mixed in shouting Nonnnnnnnnn !!! ‘Non fishing English style! I replied in perfect broken French sign language that I wasn’t English but Welsh pointing at the Welsh flag high above my bivvy The good Madam disappeared back into the mist shaking her head and still cursing. We later agreed a bottle of her homemade wine for a jack... The wine was delicious.

    Classic 😂😂🍷🍷🍷

A French guy stopped at as he was leaving the lake today. “Any luck?” he asked.

“About half a dozen carp but nothing very big”, I replied “How about you?”

“I was fishing for perch (for the table)” he said “but caught nothing” then he added “I see you are fishing English style “

“Why, because I am fishing on the bottom?” I queried.

“No” he said “Because you are put them all back after you catch them”

Not surprising really the French eat snails! 🙄 I get asked that question do you eat them?!more than ever in the UK now!! In fact more times than sightings of Harry Potter (otter).

  8. Hello folks hope all is well

Will get straight to the point

Have a small budget to aquire some new or second hand rods around the £200 mark

Have been using wychwood A101 3 1/4 tc that I paid 50 for both rods.

Hated them with a passion they were like poker sticks no feel of any fight to the fish and a fair few hook pulls

Have been catching carp mainly on the rivers

And have been offered x 2 greys air curve rods 3ib tc for 200

Or some free spirit ctx 2.75 x2 rods for 160 used twice

Or again  the free spirit ctx x2 rods  3ib tc brand new for 200

Now I'd like something that can reach me at least 100 yards.

Has anyone had any experience with the above rods are they good prices

I've also been offered some greys gt3 £50 a rod they've been used

    Kind regards in advance

All the big carp are dead in the root or have either been poached or removed, I haven't seen a big carp in there not heard of a catch from there for a couple years now, all the old girls from beyondthebivvy door pages  have died, there might be some pasties in there but nothing of size,

ive heard rumors of a 40 in Powell s pool and cats in there too but again I have seen any photos but to be fair if I caught a 40 from there I wouldn't tell anyone neither, something makes me believe it as I see the same bunch of lads fishing it when I go down, and judging by the gear they look like they no what they are doing

If you do fish the root try and chuck them out in the middle where the old wooden platform thing is, I've seen them topping there before and have caught at that spot before, I know a load of guys who fish on that spot religiously

Thanks for your reply mate much appreciated.im hoping your wrong, surely there's got be some, I'm meeting a fella on 16th of this month,  he fished it last year who says he knows there's carp in one of the lakes,(I hope he's right) either way it will be a beautiful place to place a rod.

Yeah tbh mate I would not tell a sole either. Haven't had the chance to walk around Powell's yet.

Will keep my eyes peeled for that spot when I'm down there.

I heard you mention lakes in great barr, are they safe too approach mate? Would like to pay them a visit,

I’ve fished the reservoir ever since I was 7 when I used to go down with my dad and catch perch but now it has become very overgrown with weed and now people and stealing the fish to eat but the local anglers who always fish it have been taking the fish out and putting them in Sutton park’s Blackroot pool most of the upper 10s and low 20s are already in there and reports of the 30 has been recently put in blackroot now it is still a good lake to fish but very hard to

First time visiting blackroot today, what a beautiful setting, was mesmerized as soon as I set eyes on the lake, certanly a big old walk..didn't see any carp tho, just a few dead bream in the sides.

Do you know if blackroot is pressure fished mate?? Considering giving it a go in a few weeks time

Any help from anyone would be great

  12. Good afternoon all, hope you are all keeping safe and well in this glorious sunshine 😊 ive got the fishing bug back after watching countless hours of Chris Yates and Wilson, only snag Is I've only ever specialised in fishing on rivers for Barbel ect

Have never been one for fishing a hole dug in the ground surrounded by 50 other fisherman/fisherwomen(latter would not be so bad) looking for some where with a bit of character and some decent fish to learn pool & lake fishing

Which leads me to my question

Where on earth are there any decent pools lakes near longbridge Birmingham area?  Willing to travel beyond those areas of course.

Sorry If it's long winded folks but any help guidance would be glad appreciated

    Kind regards marvoulous barbless
