I've left it a week to respond to this in the hope that somebody on here with some clout would delete the last paragraph .
I'm sure you know already anyway but , for the benefit of everybody else , I reported your post to admin because I thought , and still do think that that last paragraph is bang out of order .

Whether I considered the initial Cyborx post to be mildly amusing by way of tongue in cheek is neither here nor there to anybody else and if there had been a 'found the post to be mildly amusing' button then I would have mildly amused it ....
In its absence the like button was the nearest option .

I reported it , as I say , in the hope that admin/mods would remove the uncalled for snide comment but a week on its become obvious that THAT isn't going to happen and I'm not surprised about THAT either which would have saved me the trouble of posting In an argument I had no intention of getting involved in .

    Sad . Very sad.

Steve, can I politely ask you to hold back on the running down of the members, the fish they catch and the waters they fish.
You are entitled to your thoughts but every thread seems to go this way.
This particular type of thread is for people to show what they have worked hard for. If they feel that they are just going to get stick for it, we will start loosing members left right and centre. All that will be left then is you and I arguing pointlessly over the same subject time and time again!!!

    Aren't the lagoons rock hard?.
Somebody told they fished them for a couple of years and they were so hard that when they baited up with boilies they just bounced off the water.

I will be mixing it up!

Pike and big roach on the reservoir, carping on my multiple days, and probably pike and chub on a Norfolk river, probably some centre pin stick float fishing and maybe even chub and barbel hoping on The Lea, with one on the lead and one on stick.

I must admit that I will likely still be sticking the 2nd rod for any species on a buzzer, as it means if float fishing as I do for pike, or even with the stick float, I can have an audible tone for the ledger rod.

Why not test it and be sure it does melt?

I know numbers of anglers who have retrieved rigs after hours in the lake and the PVA still hasn't dissolved.

No worries mate it was supposed to be a joke anyway .But for your information .....

Since TFG got rid of Matt Hayes a few years ago the quality of their gear has improved ten fold and are clearly trying to rid themselves of their 'budget' reputation .
Ok it IS cheaper than your Foxes and Nashes and Trakkers but at the end of the day there are dodgy batches of all tackle by all brands that slip through the net undetected .

The TFG pod that I own is identical in build and quality to a few others that have "trendy" brand names and I don't think Dave Lane , for one , would associate himself with rubbish .

As a side note (and without trying to stir up another anti-Korda pot) , I avoided Korda hooks for years cos they were blunt but they may well have improved over the years , I don't know cos mud sticks doesn't it ?
And Korda have NEVER been cheap.

Yeah all fair points. Can't help but think that getting rid of Mat (spelt with a TW) Hayes can't of hurt them.

To be totally honest I hadn't really looked at any tfg stuff for a long time, due to the fact that everything I'd seen previously was junk, but after this thread I had a good look at some yesterday in a tackle shop. It's not at all bad is it! Some better than others, but a fair bit looked pretty good. I did have a play with a tfg centre pin reel. Didn't buy it in the end, went for a different one, but it was very nice indeed for the price.

newmarket reacted to adamkitson in A little bit of good news with regards to otters.
Apathetic is the opposite of this. It's not the fight I have an issue with it's this particular "step" being seen as a positive. Let me explain.

What has been agreed is that IF a lake already has an otter fence, but an otter gets in nonetheless, that specially trained people, funded by the PAG, are now able to buy a license, to humanely move the otter to the other side of the fence.

Firstly people with an otter fence won't automatically go and get this license, as they have a fence. If an otter gets in, by the time they've crawled through the red tape and requirements they'll have no fish left anyway.
To get this license you must be trained, which is funded by the PAG. Funds that should be used to further the cause for being able to use lethal methods to control otters will now be used to train those who already have fences in place to remove an otter from their lake, and release it into an area where there are fish in lakes without fences for it to eat.
In any future discussion it is likely that "we've already given you a license to remove otters, which you were happy with, get a fence." Will be used by wildlife Britain to justify why the door to any further negotiations will be slammed in the face of the Angling Trust.

This only helps people who have fences already, but fail to use them properly or maintain them, or the odd freak occurrence where they don't work, and it helps them to the detriment of every lake, river, drain, and canal that it is impossible to fence.

Does this really sound like a good step?

Thing is Gal , it only rewards fishery owners that have dug deep already to protect their fisheries from the furry ''kers in an effort equals reward kind of thing.
What about the Angling clubs that can't afford to fence their lakes in ?
    They are still powerless .

And Uncle Danny gets another pat on the back.

The Force 8's had loads of problems, I do not know why.
The build quality of TFG gear has improved immeasurably since Dave Lane joined the company, especially the Hardcore brollies and bivvies. I use the Hardcore Umbrella system myself, and other than a muppet moment or two when I set up facing into a storm force wind breaking the umbrella wire at the top I have no complaints.
