newmarket got a reaction from We5ty in I want the chance of a 30+ this year, where to go?
I've recently posted on another thread about club waters si , and yes they dont like carpers .
There is a lake nr me that is steeped in history .
Dick walker & his mates used to fish there in the late 40's & 50's .
In fact walker caught a 38lber there the week before he got the 44lber from redmire .

Its said that the carp there today are direct descendants of those old warriors .
Its supposedly little known but it would explain why you can join the club on a general coarse ticket but have to be a member for 2 years before you can even get on the waiting list for a carp ticket.

Theres a day ticket complex 5 mins drive away that has lotsa bigguns and will do a 40 this year i expect ...

Just an example of essex clubs ...

Your going to get a million and one different suggestions here mate but MAY I suggest fox alarms ?
Imo they are reliable and you can pick up some good quality models at very reasonable prices .
I'm still using my fox eos alarms and they have never let me down .

As for transmitter , most alarms including fox' are compatible with the attx transmitters mk 1 or 2 .
Again , very reasonable second hand on ebay especially the mark 1 attx .

I dont think it matters really whereabouts your indicators /alarms are tbh .
As for saving your rod given a savaage take then there are loadsa really strong really cheap butt rests out there .

Would snag ears help at all with that ?

    I couldn't disagree more.

Lots of the lakes the 'top boys' fish, are arguably worse than any situation you will ever fish. High profile waters may have the same amount of anglers as a lake you may fish. But generally get filled up with fulltime anglers, fishing 4+ days a week. These lakes become like circuses, there are no virgin waters in the UK that the 'pro's' have access to. And if there are virgin waters. They are all non publicity, meaning they are no good for people trying to catch for marketing purposes.

His name comes up time and time again for various reasons, but a man I will refer to as JS, has a bad reputation for filling in a lake with bait. Which may be true, but him and others like him don't just turn up and spod out 50kg of boilies, unless they knew from the time of year, or some other factors that would make it the right thing to do. Most of their bait gets used prebaiting, in order to get the fish to see your bait as a natural food source.

People who just turn up and bait huge amounts are not going to do well, but people who actively bait are going to outfish the others that don't.

Bad angling is what ruins the fishing for everyone, and feeding the fish high protein baits in the right situation, is not bad angling at all. Every thing has its day, and generalisation will never get you anywhere,

I cant use a stick any more , my shoulder is to decrepit nowadays and a veteran of many a ct scan .
Fortuneatly i've never had to fish at long range so a catapult (esp) has always served me well . That is untill last year when the seagull population appeared to quadruple overnight so i've had to look at other methods.

Yes i'm also a believer in the spod scaring scenario . I can never be sure it spooks the fish but because i only fish shortish sessions i wouldnt take a chance . Purely a confidence thing that would probably be different if i was there for a week.
Besides i dont own a spod rod

I have taken to using a mini spomb. Minimum disturbance and i can use it on a normal carp rod.

Oh and lots and lots of pva...

Cheers, I'll not be getting the Korda ones, I was looking at Dave's as they are definitely compatible with the short solar chains I have, I have some spare chains that I'm gonna cut down. That way I can still use my other indicators for longer range etc without having to change my hockey sticks.

Said it before in previous threads . They are marvellous imo , they do exactly what uncle danny tells you that they do and you will know exactly what has gone on down there .
Along with their sinkers , the only decent gear that korda make and the best score i ever spent fishing wise .
