  1. Spoke to the shop. They were really good. Told me to send it back to be replaced! Cheers lads.
  2. Don't know if anyone can help but I bought a new shimano xtr-ra a few weeks ago and I'm using it for the first time tomorrow. I've noticed that when the spool spins it is like it's buckled swaying from side to side. This is the best way I can describe it so hope it makes sense. The line is even slightly lop sided on the spool because of it. Anyone had this before? Is there an easy fix or should I send it back?
  3. Do you all rate it over daiwa sensor brown? I use 15lb sensor at the moment and I'm wondering whether to change?
  4. Has anyone else got anything to say about this line now that they have been using it on their reels for a while?
  5. I like the knot but I am obviously being thick here because I still don't understand how to put the D in?
  6. I've had a look around and it seems that the palomar knot is a popular choice for fluorocarbon. If I use this knot to attach my hook how do you attach a ring for the bait or in my case a bore ring to the hook? Also what are peoples favourite loop knot for flouro as well?
  7. I always buy one to read on the bank but don't otherwise.
  8. I've got two of the XTEAs and I love them! Really smooth, fast retrieve and nice and powerful. I'm in the market for another reel and was going to get the new version. I am surprised it is not as smooth? I'll be interested to see what others have to say.
  9. The lake I am fishing has some choddy areas, silt in others and lillies and other potential snaggy bits. Popups are the most successful. Chod/silt rigs seem to be the favourite pop up rig but probably not the safest for this suituation with all the potential snags. Since my original posts I have been practicing tying chod rigs and I am happy that I can tie one where in the event of a breakage the hooklinkand lead can be ejected under light pressure. Even with this in mind it is probably still not the best rig to use for this venue so what's your favourite popup rig other than the chod that is
  10. Ok thanks. One last thing, Do I make the hooklink a lower breaking strain than the leader?
  11. What flavours are your favourites and how do you fish them? Over a bed of boilies?
  12. Anyone used these? How do you find them? Thought I would give them a try on my next session.
  13. Part of your comment is one reason I don't like Helicopter set-ups, especially with a "naked" line section of light breaking strain mainline. You should be using a line strength of at least 15lb to my mind. Have a read of these, some good pics and ideas here: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=51296 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=36456 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?p=519408#519408 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=37603 Thanks for your patience. That last thread had a brilliant picture in it and would be my preferred set up.
  14. Excuse my ignorance gents but I haven't used a shod rig before or seen one in the flesh. Is it the lead tat basically stops the hook link sliding off the line when you are playing a fish? If so, how can you make the rig safe? Surely if you use a really low breaking strain line it will just break off when you are playing a nice fish? I am clearly missing something here
  15. Can you tie a chod rig without using lead core? If you can would someone explain to me in really simple terms what to use instead and how to use it? Thanks in advance.
