  1. I agree mate. i dont think we need to use leadcore when there are alot safer and possibly more effective products out there. I have noticed alot of people messing around with there rigs like tying knots in the end so the lead clip wont fall off if snagged ???? and all these bad rigs ive seen happen to be on leadcore.
  2. When i blank to many times i find going back to basics work. Corn/maize, maggots, worm, cheese and dog biscuit and i tend to set up the method or controller float just to improve my chances of catching something
  3. I got some of there pellets now and they seem fine. £1 each so you cant really go wrong. I only mix them up with other stuff in my pva mesh or method mix tho but they seem to work. They love the floating sticks they sell i tend to chuck some out when im surface fishing the banks ect.
  4. I have had the same problem but with ducks and alike. Try using fake bread from enterprize or tigernut they work a treat and the birds try and get them at first then after a few dissapointing atempts they seem to leave it alone or pick it up and chuck it down strait away. but the best thing about using fake surface baits is you never need to rebait and the carp cant really tell the differance between real and fake.
  5. Writing this thread has made me think about a maybe realistic dream job and since then i have thought about bieng a chef and aiming towards getting my own resturant. its what i wanted to do when i was younger and my mum even got me a job in the hotel marriot but bieng 16 and like a fool only interested in getting out of my brain on anything i could i turned it down. now im in the building trade as a plasterer and painter and decorator and i would not say im happy at work. So i guess my new ( more realistic ) dream job is to have my own resturant. Granted next month it might be something else but there you go
  6. Well i can imagine most will want what i would..... Field testing new fishing products made by your own successfull company to sell whilst getting extra money for letting ppl fish your own privite lake. what a dream. How the other half live.
  7. you can take the easy route and ask someone fishing there already what the best methods/bait for that lake are. or take time and find out yourself
  8. Yeah it was great. my grandad was going to come as well but he is 84 so he stayed at my parents house. i think the kat would of dragged him in and muched him up
  9. But I guess they must have been the biggest ones Thats what he kept saying
  10. Well 4 days turned into 2 but hey still wicked. We woke up early and was shocked to find it was chucking it down. Me my Brother and Dad left Valencia at 4 am and arrived at mequinenza by 8, (still bloody raining) were we meet up with our guide. We followed him to where we was going to spend the next 2 days fishing plus a fishing boat trip up to the Dam. After a short introduction we got set up and straight to it. I could not wait to start mainly because we had 100lb braid and 120lb hooklink with 6lb test curve rod so some serious stuff / fish. One of my dads rods went off screaming, seemed like a real monster. He was having a real good fight for about 5 mins plus a few swear words from the unexspected strength of the CAT. He managed to get him near the bank possibly 10 meters out and BOOM! it come off. I was gutted for him as he has not been fishing for about 25 years. What a way to start again that would off been. Next it was my brothers turn, this one took off even harder than my Dads and it seemed bloody heavy. my brothers not a small bloke and by the time he got it near the bank ready to bring in his arms were caining. we saw it swim up from the depths (23ft drop from the bank) Wow what a demon that looked, evil. On the scales it went and it was a 73lb stunning catfish. And to think they can be more than double that is a wonderful thought. My dads turn again. another fine screamer on the buzzers and he was in. 2 mins later it got away. I could see the dissapiontment in hes eyes, he was guted. Finally my right rod went off, love that sound. I started to bring him in. after about 5 mins the job was done. I landed my self a lovely 48lber. "Nice buzz" Not much was happening for a few hours after that so we decided to try Squid with pellet stuffed inside. It worked well and i landed another 2 catfish at 35lb and 20lb, My bro landed another one at 15lb and my poor dad didnt get anymore takes. A good 1st day even tho it was raining from start to finish. maybe saw about 1hr of sun in total. Day 2 We got set up by the bank at around 8 with All 6 rods out. 3 with squid and pellet and 3 with just pellet. Lovely sunshine so things were looking great untill 3 tubines were opened at the dam. It was sending so much weed down on the under current and surface that it was near enough impossible to fish. Every 5 mins we had to bring them back in and take 10 ton of weed off the line. My dad managed to get a take but lost that one too. Harsh! We decided to bring the rods in for good and take the boat out. We started out using lures up river abit but no takes there so we went down to the dam were the turbines were still open. we anchored the boat to a boy right next to the open turbine and casted out some lures to work with the intense current. Being 30ft deep with currents in all diffrent directions and very very strong currents i would not like the chances of anyone living after falling in there. It felt like extreme fishing. My brother got a take and got it in the boat. a nice 20lb cat. Then i got another which was around 25lb. My dad felt one take his lure and started bringing it in. Guess what? It got away. The day came to the end and it was time to start thinking about the journey home. We then left to go back to my parents house. It takes about 3 hours to valencia so as i was not the one driving i had myself a very nice sleep. after getting home i had a few beers then i called it a night and went to sleep knowing that the next day i can spend chilling out by the pool with some nice cold beer. HAPPY DAYS!!! It was a real good fishing holiday. Shame it was raining, no fish over 100lb, the guide was a ?, the turbines were on, didnt get any ebro carp and my dad didnt catch but hey it was fishing the ebro in spain so its all is good,

  12. Ok fair enough. But i think there should be a not to go fishing lake section with the reasons as this may make better fisheries in our country and they will be run by ppl who are not only in it for money but for passion as well.
  13. I took my 11 year old son fishing for his first time after school today and he caught his first carp 6.5 lb common. Well done kieron, Wicked What did everyone else catch for there first carp ?????? I netted a 8.7 lb common from hermitage fisheries. I remember bieng well exited and i weighed it twice on 2 different scales to make sure
  14. I might of read that wrong deformed mouths??. sorry mate im proper tired and all dazed and confused.
  15. spread the word. name and shame that lake mate. we want owners to care about the lakes / fish we pay them to visit and use for the sport we love. One or two fish is inevitable but 6 out of 9 is such poor ownership. Im guessing people are just ripping the hooks out and not giving a "BEEP" about the fishes welfare.
