i use premier and you can only get it from them, the factory. i order a minimum 500kg plus a year through them so get a rather good deal. and i have no doubt that if approached any bait firm and guarateed that i ordered that amount of bait a year id get a good bait deal anywhere. and yes that is alot of bait, but i order for roughly 10 other anglers who order varying amounts. if you get a group together and order say 100kg then you would get a bait deal at most places

I'm, going to test it out myself.
I've got a selection of TC ranging from 2.5 lb to 3.25 will do the test in mono and braid on all rods so it's not flawed like the one on bivvy tv.

I'm up Horseshoe for 48hrs on Friday meeting a few regulars for a bit of a social , and hopefully a stunning winter carp. I'll take my selection of rods with me and get one of them to hold the scales for the test.

Chillfactor, only just started fishing again recently so extrapolating the amount I've been in last 10 weeks means I'll be getting like 20 days fishing a year...so not much. However the up side is its because I have two young kids. About as good a reason as you can get for not fishing! Anyhow, in a few years they'll hopefully want to come along and we can go fishing for weeks at a time

Tim your post above is a good reason to use tubing , ie pinning your line down at the business end where other materials are banned
also don't see how the rig can be called dangerous , if the lead is restricted to moving up and down the tubing its never actually attached to the main line , no matter where the main line snaps the line will pull through the tubing leaving the lead on the tubing .

cm don't you use tubing? or at least you said you did to protect the flanks of the fish from your mainline braid .

oh and welcome to the forum op

Two chances of me paying 40£ kilo.... fat and none
sticking it in the right place and getting the fish feeding is far more important.

When did you buy your last set though mate ?
I can only go by what was pointed out to us by Terry Edmonds on the casting day. ... Ross had a brand new set of century rods, and when as a group we got talking about rods ,he picked up a few of our rods and said that century now use cheap copies of fugi rings on there rods and he was right when we looked at them, then picked holes in the build quality, and these were expensive rods .

To be honest milky I think your correct in saying that , what some fish are immune to others won't be, which to me is another good reason for getting the mixed blood lines in early and they can grow there immunity together.
And also you don't have the risk of having to add a different strain of carp decades on when your stock are far more valuable to you and great big stunners.... what do you think ?

Hawkman, I reckon you've got it about spot on mate ... different strains will stop stunted fish stocks in the future when they breed , and 60 carp to 15lb would give good growth rates

First thing on the agenda would be the mother of all otter fences. I would then seek advice on how to maintain an healthy, balanced ecosystem.
I would have a mixture of different strains of carp, nothing going in over 15lb and no more than 60 of them.

chillfactor reacted to levigsp in People ask why I think the Ebro is finished.
Let me state clearly that I am not racist, far from it.
I do however hate free loaders and scum comming into the UK or anywhere else for that matter.
Since the communist grip of eastern europe was relaxed the whole of Europe has beneffited.
However the UK joining the common market was the first step on the ladder of the destruction of GREAT Britain.

Now to the Point. if you go to the countries where these poachers originate you often find laws far moor severe than here, eg Poland, Rumania, Ukraine etc etc, in all these countries if ytou are caught with fish above a certain size you lose everything including your freedom.
Thats great in them countries because the fish all breed VERY succesfully and there is a huge harvestable surpluss of fish, that can be caught and eaten, but over a certain size they are put back to breed, whereas in the UK the fish simply dont breed like that and there is no harvestable surpluss.
Its no different to us harvesting wood pigeons that over populate the uk, but in Europe, where they dont breed as well they are protected in the main.
However a small minority of people can see the oppertunety in countries that have little wildlife law enforcement to catch native wildlife for markets in other counties, eg the netting taking place in Spain Germany, Uk, Ireland etc, and the vwholesale slaughter of Swans, Geese etc the the UK and Ireland.
These people are often not Countrymen, fishermen etc, they simply hear and see anglers catches and find on the internet and from books ways of harvesting these fish etc.
This last lot in Spain will be deported etc, but there are many more that get away with it.
Until everybody conserned, anglers, dog walkers police etc get together and start talking, they the poaches will get away with it.
With my own eyes I have seen poaching completely ignored by anglers both here and in other european countries.
Yet one phonecall and its often delt with.
