dalthegooner 1,242
A couple of bits of advice if you've never used expanding foam before, Phil: Fill the hull two thirds of the way in one spraying. Once the foam sets in the applicator tube, you'll never be able to use it again so don't be tempted to do it bit by bit. Once you've sprayed it leave it for a couple of hours before you start tampering. It's an extremely messy substance if you try to play with it before it's set, but it's easy to cut and sand once it's set. Roll on next weekend johnplumb
phil dalts 444
Cheers boys!, I could be onto a winner here, shall I spray it black if it works? (the body not the foam!!)
dalthegooner 1,242
Black would look good, but would normal paint stick to the plastic, or would you need to use enamel (Airfix) type paint?

ianain 1,071
That foam gets very hot, are you sure it won't upset the electronics? Think I'd be tempted to put something on the outside, something like an outrigger?

chillfactor 3,241
None of the expanding foams I've used have ever got really hot ? Not even warm . It's an easy job Phil just crack on and buy some .

dalthegooner 1,242
that made me laugh out loud!!! Should I screw hull back on and spray foam in through a screw hole or just fill hull up?? I reckon you should fill the hull up about 2/3 of the way and then put the top on (Don't screw it, just put them together).
phil dalts 444
Of interest how much bait and what was the weight of it. That went in the hoppers ? To make it sink but I have now stripped it all down, taken all the motors out for the wheel, all the running gear, all I'm left with is hopper mechanism and propellers
dalthegooner 1,242
pessimistic point of view, but I still reckon you may split it. More inexperienced and uneducated rather than pessimistic
Ddgx 228
Would it be safer to leave the lid off? Lid on, it could split? At least if lid is off it can expand up and out and then can be cut down to suit? Disclaimer: Ddgx cannot be held responsible if Hull still splits
chillfactor 3,241
The post above by Ddgx is how I described to do it on an earlier post ,and still think it's the best way
