PVA Bag on Lead Clip

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I do see what you're saying, though, let's say I pre-tie Bags with rig inside (no lead), attached directly to the lead clip, I have most fishing situation covered. I also, don't have to re-thread my Tungsten tube every time I change from bags to leadclip/bottom baits. So I was thinking rig in the bag and tie to clip. Rig in "in the mix" rather than sitting to the side, sort of thing.

Not sure if I am explaining it well.

Hi

I'm trying to see if I can somehow attach a PVA bag of pellets +/- the rig to a lead clip system.

As I see it and it's been explained, the lead should be in the bag.

Any suggestions?

I think I get what your asking, I wasn't too sure in your 1st post..

The lead doesn't have to be in the solid bag, you can, like you mention just tie the bag with only the rig in, ready to attach to any lead set up. I I would normally just use mesh for this presentation like Hutch has mentioned, the bait tends to explode from the mesh if its tight, so your bait is unlikely to be too the side.

The lead in side is just another way of presenting your rig.If the bottom is clear of weed I'd be happy to cast a mesh or solid without the lead in, but if there is a layer or silk weed or chod or anything suspect then the lead in a solid bag reduces the chance of fouling, and that would be my choice.

Another thing with the lead in with the rig is that the rig is slack/coiled, there are theories that a straight rig may only work if picked up from a certain direction where as a slack/coiled rig can be pick up from 360 degrees as it has the movement to be picked up without any tension till the lead comes into play.....though I've caught enough using sticks (straight rig)not to be too concerned with this theory

How do you tie your bags closed? I tend to cut rabbit ears (term coined by Nick) so the bag has two strips at the top and tie them. Could you tie this to your swivel on lead or rig, keeping the lead outside of the bag? Is there scope to tie the bag directly to the actual clip? It shouldn't pull the lead off on the cast.

I wouldn't say the lead HAS to be in the bag, put a loop and a clip on the rig then just clip the rig onto the swivel that is clear of the clip and away you go with the lead adjacent to the bag.

Maybe I have missed your point but you have got me thinking to use a lead clip as the main fixing for a Pva bag and actually have no lead at all!
