New old carping fool

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I used to carp fish thirty years ago and have now decided that I need a fifty+ carp on my bucket list.

I have re bought all the tackle mainly used for now and have caught carp up to twelve lb on a local lake. Initially I intend to catch twenties and move up the scale over the next few years. Spent my first 24 hour session on Cleveley fisheries but no bites and never even saw a fish move.Anyway any advice appreciated on fishing esp getting a twenty. Tia.

Welcome to the forum, a man with a mission, I see.    It took me a couple of years to get my first 20, although I've seen people do it, (and better) first time out, but we don't have carp lakes like you do in Britain.  Don't forget to have fun on the journey.

Welcome to the forum. The best bit of advice I can give you is don't set targets. Just enjoy your fishing and fish lakes where it's possible to catch your target and just fish but without a particular aim as imo you'll get fed up quickly if you don't achieve it.

Welcome to Carp.com

Forget targets, enjoy your fishing rather than letting it become a numbers game.

The more you treat it as a numbers game the more you will realise why you gave it up in the first place.

Look, learn, read, read and react.
