commonly 1,058
Thoughts please?? Looks like it's been a while, although I hope someone better organised than me gets the ball rolling Dave Hedgehog
Dave Hedgehog 312
I’d be up for this. Happy to be on pest control for the bream and tench! commonly and chillfactor 1
commonly 1,058
I'm guessing something went belly up last time out from the lack of response. Maybe one of the mods would know the do's & dont's, or just don't bother??
Dave Hedgehog 312
I think the main trouble will be that there only appears to be a handful of regular posters on here. But I’m happy to have a double swim to myself anyway!😁 commonly
chillfactor 3,237
The main problem is most of the regular social attendees, don't come on here anymore, was a time when you had to get ya name down quick so not to miss out & that's was with over 20 going . We still all go on socials just not arranged on here anymore . But there's nothing stopping us setting up a new scene on here , & depending on the interest will decide the size of the venue . The two guys I was in France with last week I met on here many years ago . commonly and snowmanstevo
smufter 2,228
I'd certainly be up for a social somewhere dependent on dates..... personally, prefer smaller, more "intimate" venues but would go with the flow. 😉 Edited April 7, 2019 by smufter chillfactor
commonly 1,058
Trick is to be sure no one is out of pocket!! My first thought venue for a social is linear. Plenty of swims & fish. Pay as you go. I believe we can book out swims if there's more than 10. Booking smaller waters will involve trusting someone with the money, etc.

I am currently organising, (and holding the funds) for a golfing trip to Lincolnshire for 48 members of the golf monthly forum, something I have done for the past 5 years. This amounts to over £5,000.00 Also, I'm holding funds from the 6 of us going to Lake Beauregard in July. I consider myself to be totally trustworthy and would offer full transparency. chillfactor 3,237
There always has to be trust involved mate, ive organised quite a few over the years from small 4- 5 anglers to getting on 30 odd at Horseshoe. The smaller ones are far easier to organise . You can book lakes at linear although not cheap ! commonly
commonly 1,058
I've heard good things about horseshoe and see that it has hosted the forum previously. I believe there's a trophy too!! I don't get out fishing as much as I'd like, so having a date & social to look forward to is something I'm well up for!!
chillfactor 3,237
Yes mate ... my better half made the trophy for us back in 2012 , it's got a good few names on it now from various socials up & down the country & abroad . Currently up in Telford with my mate who came with me last week , he won last year in France for the biggest fish of the week . commonly, Dave Hedgehog and snowmanstevo

dayvid 1,333
Id be up for it again , just depending on when , not sure about the Noddy Circus though , did I just say that , I mean Linear commonly
commonly 1,058
From my very limited knowledge of socials, small lake bookings don't envoke much socialising, its more about getting your spot going, too many lines out shuts down the bites, some of the group have a hike back to base for the grub up. Fishing the same bank with a few mates however I've had great times. I have very limited venue knowledge, but somewhere like brasenose should result in a good social and a fish or 2 for most attendants.
dayvid 1,333
I have very limited venue knowledge, but somewhere like brasenose should result in a good social and a fish or 2 for most attendants. That would work as its rectangular , and swims are very close to each other commonly
elmoputney 3,267
I could be up for it depending on dates etc, it would also be good to go somewhere with good stock as I may blank most sessions this year commonly
commonly 1,058
Mate the Syndi I just gave up my ticket on. 1 carp in 3 years!! A few low doubles from an estate lake I fish with my 8 year old son. I'd be very grateful for a bend in the rod😉 elmoputney

You can only book the whole lake between November & March & he pays £1.400 for 48 hours . So you would have to get a fair few anglers to make it affordable. Not normally my cup of tea but an option . Another option is a cash injection for any of your syndi's, could raise important funds for lake work /fencing / stocking / peg work etc . So if any of you think your syndi would be up for it & it's members , could be a way forward too . Until you know numbers though it will be hard find the right venue tbh . muftyboy and commonly
commonly 1,058
I really like that idea?? So we want it all! 1,Suitable dates? 2,Idea of numbers(looks like about 5 so far) worryingly no input from any mods yet😕) 3, Venue. TBC on response to above. 4, Someone to be team leader
elmoputney 3,267
There are a couple of lakes round my way can be booked exclusively for smaller groups https://www.premiumcarpfishing.com/carp-fishing-lake-venues/ Willow , poachers, abbey lakes , and vermuyden could all be booked but day tickets can go on there for the day
snowmanstevo 1,616
Merrington ticks all the boxes and we’ve had a few socials on there that have been a success (Nige zig masterclass) although I believe he’s banned zig fishing on there now. It’s a decent water to nab a bite there’s facilities on there the only problem I see is actually getting the numbers to make it affordable 🤔 commonly
yonny 4,464
I'll struggle to make it this year due to the baby lads. commonly

Straying off topic but for a good reason.. how is little one? Does the house have that wonderful hint of poo and formula milk in the air? Hoping all is well and you’re getting some sleep. Just keep in the back of your mind..this is the easy bit!😂 finchey
