Nightmare mate. I've used the N-Trap albeit some time ago and thought it was ok.

It's always been my "go to" mate. Big fish, heading for the pads, put some pressure on it to try to steer it away and.... Ping

Time for a change to the 20 or 30 lb version mate.

I've just ordered some 20 for my upcoming French trip geezer. I'd be pig sick if it happened over there. But one good thing to come out of it..... White Cottage fish like VNF 😉😉😉

It doesn't  like certain knots mate  even the 20lb will do the same & always goes 4 - 5 mm below the knot ... did it to me using a figure of 8 loop knot ! Quite a well known issue when you ask about .

I use Esp tungsten loaded these days & can't fault it .

Sound advice there,Phil, cheers mate. I think I’ve got some in my box I’ll be binning it. Unlucky Smufter but at least you’ve had an heads up,mate.

Maybe with a Palomar knot ? .

I've never had a problem with the tucked half blood before but may give the Palomar a try at the week-end. It's easy enough and I've heard it's pretty strong.

Okay with coated braid, or best to strip back at the knot???

I personally don't strip back at the knot .

I use the Palomar for everything , i.e. to mono. , to my ESP Semi Stiff .

ESP Tungsten Loaded is the best hooklink I've ever used. And I've used a few.

This is the stuff I use as recommended on here, I've been using it for over a year now with no issues really easy to strip the coating and trying.

I tend to use the figure of eight and grinner knot. 👍
