I threw a few boilies into my pond a few days back and they are still complete ,no breakdown ,bits falling off etc.   For the guys doing long sessions and leaving cast out rigs for hours and hours I would guess that is fine.  But I usually only do a day session.

Are there any boilies that start to break down inside an hour.  I doubt I ever leave a bait out more than an hour so it’d be a big advantage it there was one. Or a way to make some .

'Skinned' bait just blanched for a few seconds would be my choice if there were even just a few roach in the lake

And what's wrong with roach? Carp are inquisitive and will often seek out what's going on in my opinion.

So you never use maggots for carp fishing then?

I think softer boilies are way better. If they are hard then their leakage would surely be lower. Good soft baits would include anything from Sticky or CCMoore. Mistral Belachan and Shrimp is another nice soft bait. Baits with coarser ingredients tend to be more leaky and softer.
