Best hooklink material

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what everyone’s preference is for a hooklink material? Going though my tackle box, I’ve got 20+ different spools, fluro, braids, coated braids etc... I seem to flit from one to the other at times, yet I always revert back to esp striptease coated braid. It’s thin, versatile and I’ve got so much confidence in it. What’s your go to hooklink material?

Keeping things simple is the way forward mate, I’m always tinkering with rigs admittedly when at home, but on the bank i revert to simple rigs I know work, coupled with a bait I have complete confiden

I had a similar experience with a bailiff on my water, I was using a spod on a water with braided mainline and a tapered mono shockleader, the bailiff came wandering into the swim and asked me to pull

seaguar abrazx fluorocarbon fishing line Not sure if this available in Europe yet. I bought some off ebay from a US supplier. Postage was not cheap but it still worked out cheaper than other S

PB jelly wire is the one I seem to go back to it's lovely to use, and I'm getting into Gardner trick link at the moment, I've tied up a few different rigs up this week, just to do something to chill out 😳

That being said I do own and will use a few others 😁

ESP tungsten loaded stiff and semi stiff (prefer semi stiff I think)

Mouth trap

Bank tackle semi stiff coated, not a bad braid tbh very usable and reasonably priced

I would really like to find a really nice uncoated braid though still? 😂

ESP sink link was good, bank tackle kevlar one is OK, but a real nice soft naturally acting braid would be nice for my bags and bag rigs (which I tweaked last night with a different hook pattern 👀😬😀

I mostly use a combi rig with Berkeley fluro and snakeskin black which reminds me of the Dacron back in the day

Most of mine are Kryston; Mantis, Snakebite, Merlin, and Snakeskin. I also have Amnesia in 15 and 20lb in both black and clear

Another fan of the tungsten loaded semi stiff, if i have to use a braid for say like a PVA bag Kryston Super Nova (I still have the original).

Still got a spool myself I will be having one rod on solid bags this spring so it will be coming out might use it on my combis as well

The ESP stuff is OK used to use their sink link, the coating on the tungsten is a bit tricky as in it is easily ruined should use a striping tool teeth and thumb nail isn't the best.

Tungsten loaded needs mucho lubrication, that seems to stop it splitting, l got a little Gardner stripping tool the other week makes life so much easier 👍

Sink link is a nice uncoated braid, I only stopped using it because I ran out 😂
