New bivvy time !

Recommended Posts

i really wanted one of the centre mech bivvies but seen too many come and go, to be fair if they are not ripping, you have to expect a little leak here and there, they are using material that is not waterproof until treated,  if you have ever owned tents you will know they would be useless in the winter or strong windy rain, the prologic are spot on solid light and easy to pack away.

I admire your loyalty to the Sonik brand Highy… but that’s a hell of a lot of faults 😳

That is a few over the years, but to me some of them are only small problems.

Well BB beat me to it .

Sonik may well be quick to replace faulty parts / items , but why are they breaking in the first place ! ? .

🤔

Maybe 1st productions?, but none have them.have been repeat problems.

I wish 🤣....it just comes down to Cost, Durability, Reviews, ....stuff like that, but the Customer Service is 1st class I've practically seen/handled most sonik stuff now, but soon the Extractor range will be there flagship products when all the luggage, beds, etc come out.....

But we'll see what happens about my bivvy...

Sadly @newmarket might be on the receiving end of this one, but on my Sonik Vader Spod/Marker Hybrid rod I'm now 3 popped rod rings where the liner has come out of the ring. Thank goodness I leave it set up so I could push them back into place, and give a dash of Araldite.

I'll add this onto his Marker rod thread

Mine has lasted the time so far, spudding, marketing, using deeper....faultless.

I’ve had sonik rods since 2011 I think ? The S3 if I remember rightly and I’ve got there S6 in 2018/19 can’t remember tbh and there still as good as when I bought them the cat I posted before was on my S3,s and them rods have deffo been used and abused. All my gear has stood the test of time given the amount of time/abuse I give them and it’s not high end stuff…….. i just must of got lucky I suppose my Fox Warrior spod rod has been used for sea fishing as well as launching a spod for 10years ?
Don’t think any of my brollys or Bivvys have let me down over the years and as I’ve said I only buy mid range tackle not high end………. In saying that I do look after my kit very well both on and off the bank (that’s not a pop at any of the posters who’ve had stuff fail on them) I must have just got lucky with my purchases but I do try and do some research before I part with my hard earned coz I’m a tight northerner 🙄🙄🤣🤣😬😎🎣

I must be the person who can kill anything!

I set up the bivvy with the wind coming from behind, but have been caught out a few times with a sudden direction change, where it rips round to the front and lifts the bivvy inside out. Bang went a very good Hardcore Brolly!

The Sonik rod rings, I don't know why the liners popped. I strap the rod tightly and put a rod top protector on it. It has been treated exactly the same as my fishing rods which are all OK, no bent rings or anything, and they go in a Specialist sling, then into a Fox Royale sling pocket and get the straps hold that in place. In the end I have had to put the S&M rod separately.

KN rucksacks and rod holdalls that simply don't last, broken zips, ties or totally split. In terms of Kevin Nash Tackle I can only recall two decent items, an Outlaw Hurricane Bivvy and overwrap which I still have, and an Outlaw Landing net that lasted for a good few years.

Fox Warrior Landing Net, well used, remeshed but still going strong, bought that when I was on Nazeing. The Royale holdalls or rod slings have lasted, as did the EasyDome bivvies.

Thanks mate ..... got one on order 👍

How did you get on with it - any complaints?

I also recommended to someone else and they bought it round last night so I could show them how I set mine up.  Needless to say I was well impressed, it's hard to recommend a new version you don't own but I knew it would be great and I was not wrong IMO - I love it.  A big 1 man, better poles, groundsheet, peak design, inner layer front panel addition (we took that out for now), new colour, lovely fabric.

Saving up for this myself as the 2 man is a bit too big for some of the swims, this is the one for me for sure, will take by big bed, all kit and dog crate - bingo!

Yes Tim .... used it last week at the woolpack social.  First impressions are good,  certainly a bigger footprint than my old armo 2man , which could be a problem if swims a tight . Had thunder storms / hail & coped fine . Its a different set up to my old armo in regards to pole layout,  the porch on the new Hq is part of the pram hood,  where as the armo you had to insert the poles for the porch . My only worry with this is in strong winds , I had to take the porch off the armo a few times in the big gails to stop it trying to take off , this won't be an option with the HQ .

Overall I like it good material etc will just have to see when it comes to the really carpy weather & the big winds. 20220523_173524.thumb.jpg.84fd827bc69a7bcd70e49108d3b6414b.jpg
