ESP was set up in Oxford in 1999. Anglers have loved this carp fishing tackle brand since it was first dreamt up as a name by Terry Hearn. Even today, the Chod Rig and various other end tackle combinations pioneered by Terry Hearn and ESP are highly regarded and still catch many carp.

The range covers many terminal tackle products, including hooks, floats, swivels and ready-made rigs. In addition, the brand has branched out into luggage, clothing, fish care and ESP carp rods over the last few years.

ESP Big-T hooks hit the market in 2001. These were the first carp hooks to have a standard PTFE coating, providing a discreet finish and making the product extremely durable. The rest is history, with many other hook manufacturers forced into using this technology to keep up.

ESP designs and manufactures everything using their in-house CAD (computer-aided design) engineers. First, they work with carp experts in designing and creating all ESP gear, followed by the consultants checking all these products, which has led to ESP gear becoming a must-have in many carp angler’s tackle boxes.
